In this workshop, Evelin will take you through the process of composting and explain all the details of:
- Selecting and separating the food scraps
- Choosing the right place to make your compost
- Things that can go wrong and how to avoid or fix them
- What to do with food scraps that can’t be composted
- How to use your compost
About the workshop presenter – Evelin Zuniga:
Evelin grew up in Colombia in the midst of plants, trees and a great diversity of birds. she studied the science of food processing and technology. Shortly after moving to Qatar with her husband, she realized the need to improve the desert soil, which would allow it to be a habitat for plants and animals. Since then she composts her vegetable waste, yet achieving it was not easy for her. Living in an apartment and with little experience, it took her sometime to understand more about the dynamics of nature, after many attempts she managed to obtain a much more stable approach to segregating without much wastage. Her goal is to provide people with the necessary tools that allow them to build a more environmentally responsible culture, through the use of what we once considered waste, and which is now considered a source of life. What motivates her is what we will receive from it, “the reward”, which for her personally is being able to build a fresher and more beautiful place, full of flowers and different types of plants, where our families can live in harmony with nature.
