Last week, we held an amazing event at the Education City MicroFarm, designed specifically for educators and gardening enthusiasts. For those who couldn’t join us, here’s an update on what you missed:
- The event took place at the MicroFarm, which includes both a community garden and an academic greenhouse, providing an ideal environment for hands-on learning.
- Interactive Learning: Attendees engaged in hands-on activities, allowing them to experience the joy and educational value of gardening firsthand.
- Our Focus: The aim of the gathering was to explore how gardening and agriculture can be integrated into educational curricula to enhance learning for students of all ages.
- Speakers Highlight:
- Vicky Damalou, co-founder of Hadiqaa and an agricultural engineer, opened the event and discussed the company’s goals and the educational potential of the MicroFarm.
- Maryam Al Muftah from Dadu, Children’s Museum of Qatar, emphasized the importance of play in educational development, inspired by the activities at the newly opened Dadu Gardens.
- Dany Deaibess, a seasoned landscape engineer, discussed practical tips for starting and maintaining school gardens.
- Each participant went home with a plant, encouraging them to start or enhance their own gardens.
We hope to make this an annual event to continue sharing ideas and strategies for bringing nature into educational settings. Here are some case studies from the day.
