Gardening for Neurodiverse Kids: Growing Together
Location: Education City Microfarm
Age Group: Specifically designed for neurodiverse children, including those on the autism spectrum, open to all ages.
Our program understands that each child is unique, and we celebrate those differences. We create an environment where children can thrive at their own pace while embracing the beauty of nature.
Based on Real stories:
A 17-year-old boy with autism, non-verbal, with serious sensory issues and aggressive behavior. We could not predict when he would lose control of his emotions. We started with olfactory stimulation, but it didn’t make much of an impact on him. Then we tried soil-related activities like soil mixing, media preparation, and soil loosening. He loved it. Those activities helped him gain control over his emotions and calmed him. He was very happy doing those activities to the point where he even started to murmur sounds and letters. Nature’s magic works for everyone!
Gardening is not just about growing plants; it’s a journey of self-discovery, sensory delight, and meaningful connections.
Key Program Highlights:
- Individualized Curriculum: Our program is designed to cater to the individual needs and abilities of each child. Through personalized assessments, we will identify the strengths and areas where support is needed.
- Skill Development: Participants will have the chance to develop a wide range of vocational skills, helping them gain independence and self-confidence.
- Supportive Community: creating a warm and welcoming environment where every child feels valued and encouraged.
- Fun and Learning: Learning is always more effective when it’s fun!
We welcome caregivers, therapists, and support persons to be part of this enriching journey, fostering a compassionate and understanding community space.
This 11-session series celebrates the magic of neurodiversity, priced at just 80 QAR per session. Young gardeners will take home their potted plants, seeds, and memories of a shared adventure.
For our neurodiverse young gardeners, this program is not just an activity; it’s an affirmation that everyone can find joy, connection, and fulfillment in nature.
